Kira Plymire
Owner & Trainer

Kira brings to KPEG over 20 years of experience training and showing hunters and jumpers throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. She began her career as a very young child in the eventing world and then moved into the equitation, hunters, and jumpers arenas where she found her true passion. As a junior rider, Kira worked for numerous trainers as a working student and traveled throughout the west coast to work, ride, train, learn, and compete.

By age 16, Kira was accepted into the United States Equestrian Federation’s Emerging Athletes program which was designed to aid in the development of talented youth and prepare them for the demands of being professional riders. During that time, Kira was able to train under the likes of gold medalists Melanie Smith-Taylor and Will Simpson and eventually moved into more formal training roles as a young professional as soon as she turned 18.

Kira has gained experience in the last 7 years working and showing on both the west coast and the east coast as well as abroad in Germany. Kira’s valuable experience in the hunter arena throughout California, Washington, and Oregon as well as on the coast circuits in Wellington, Kentucky, and New York have been complimented by her time spent abroad working with young jumpers. She has gained valuable experience and connections while riding, showing, and training young jumpers in Europe in order to prepare them to be imported and sold.

Kira is thankful for the many different learning experiences that she has been able to grow from both as a working student and catch rider in her junior years and now, as a young professional. Her accolades include top placements in USHJA International Hunter Derbies and many show championships and year end championships in the hunter ring as well as victories in all levels of the jumper arena.

Currently based primarily in Santa Ynez, CA, she also has a secondary location in Malibu, CA. While she has put down roots on the west coast, Kira also manages to balance a travel schedule back and forth to the east coast and winter circuit in Wellington as well as in Europe.

The attributes that set Kira apart from others are her deep dedication and love and sensitivity towards each horse and each rider.  Her specialty is working with and developing young hunters and jumpers as she works toward helping horses and their riders grow and expand their potential in a safe and supportive manner. The “boutique” aspect of KPEG is built upon the fundamental pillars of quality, positivity, and a hands on approach to achieve success, reach all goals and make dreams come true.
